Future

Charitable IRA Rollover

A Charitable IRA Rollover, Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) provides you with a way for transferring you annual Required Minimum Distributions directly to Responsible Fathers, in order to exclude the distributions from you taxable income while simultaneously supporting our work to better children's futures by helping fathers be dads.

Requirements & Restrictions

  • Donor must be 70 1/2 or older.

  • Gift must be made directly from the IRA to an eligible charitable organization.

  • Gifts to all charities combined may not exceed more than of $100,000 per taxpayer for the year.

  • No material benefits can be received in return for gifts.

  • Gifts may not be made to a donor advised fund, supporting organization, or private foundation.

  • The gift is not included in taxable income; thus, no charitable deduction is allowed.

  • Gifts must be made from an IRA. Gifts from 401(k), 403(b), and 457 plans are prohibited.

Making a distribution is an easy process. Since you cannot make a distribution directly, your administrator must transfer the money. Simply contact your plan administrator and tell them you would like to make a charitable donation from your IRA to Responsible Fathers.

At the end of the year, your plan administrator will provide you with a Form 1099-R so you can report it on your taxes. The distribution should be included on Form 1040 tax return, where you will report the distribution as a non-taxed QCD. See the Form 1040 instructions and contact your tax professional for additional information.
